As part of my job as Director of Career Services at a tech school, I periodically have to do various web based training courses. The most recent one I just completed (and nailed the test with a 100% awww yeeeeaaahhh ) was called A Manager's Guide to Diversity. It was both informative, and unintentionally hilarious.

More often than not, companies over a certain size will have various HR training things that are built on creaky out-of-date web technologies and make heavy use of cheesy stock photos. Here are some of the best slides from the course.

I'm pretty sure "Onkar" is just some hipster dude the stock photo agency gave a turban.

"I'm young, white, male, and in a wheelchair, just like that other dude in a wheelchair."

"Trust me. I have a stethoscope."

"MY BACK HURTS SO MUCH."

"I am a legal authority because I'm wearing a robe and holding a dictionary."

"Because I have dreadlocks I am obviously not a member of an organized religion such as Christianity or Judaism, but I have sincerely held religious, ethical or moral beliefs."

Literally every single "religious" stock photo in this presentation is a non-white person. But every single slide with a person of authority like a manager, lawyer, or whatever else, that person is white. Except for Dr. Stethoscope.

I think this training might be racist.

( PPPPPPPPPPPPPPLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEEEE don't take that last bit seriously. Let's avoid any butthurtedness.)

Herman Miller Aeron? These chairs are SSSSSSOOOOO comfy that we engage in a protracted 8 hour long combat Nerf war composed of epic maneuver warfare between the cubicles. Flanking, feints, defilade, enfilade, ambushes, awesome combat rolls and tactical reloads are just some of the key fundamentals that are necessary to park your ass in that chair.

My work has them too, but we also have animated cartoon-like figures that talk to each other.

I one time had to endure a 2-3 hr long training thing, watching these animated cartoons about 50% of the time. It was the best training ever, they were unintentionally hilarious.
